Boldness
bold·ness
Choosing to go after what you want, out loud. Boldness is how dreams stop being private.
Another way of seeing it
Most of what you want is on the other side of a question you haven't asked: the raise, the date, the collaboration, the price. The worst answer is usually 'no', which leaves you exactly where you are now. Boldness is simply asking anyway.
In relationships
Make the first move. Send the message, suggest the plan, say 'I like you'. Most people are waiting for someone else to go first.
In the ordinary day
Ask for one thing today you'd normally talk yourself out of: the better table, the discount, the meeting, the help.
A question to sit with
What are you not asking for because you're afraid of hearing no?
Carry this with you
Ask anyway.
Where it comes from
From the Old English bald, meaning brave or daring. It once described someone who stepped forward when others held back.
Try this today
Ask for one thing you'd normally talk yourself out of.
