Acceptance

ac·cept·ance

What does Acceptance mean?

Seeing what is, without pretending it's otherwise. Acceptance is the starting line for change, not the finish.

Another way of seeing Acceptance

Acceptance sounds like giving in, but it's closer to the opposite. You can't change what you refuse to see. Resistance keeps asking ‘why is this happening to me?’, a question with no useful answer. Acceptance asks ‘what now?’, a question that always has one. Every real change begins the moment you stop arguing with reality.

Acceptance in relationships

Accepting someone means loving the person they are, not the person you're waiting for them to become. It doesn't mean tolerating harm. It means ending the campaign to change them.

Acceptance in everyday life

Notice one thing today you keep wishing were different. Say plainly, ‘This is how it is right now.’ Then ask the better question: ‘What now?’

Carry this with you

Stop asking ‘why me?’ Start asking ‘what now?’

Did this word find you today?

Everyone connects with different words in different ways. How did this one land with you?
