Simplicity

What does Simplicity mean?

Keeping what matters and letting the rest fall away. Simplicity is the art of subtraction.

Another way of seeing Simplicity

We rarely fix an overfull life by adding — one more app, one more system, one more plan. The answer is usually subtraction. Michelangelo is said to have described sculpting as removing everything that isn't the statue. Your life may work the same way: what you're looking for could already be there, buried under everything you haven't cleared away.

Simplicity in everyday life

Remove one thing from today: a meeting, an errand, an app, a ‘should’. Then notice whether anything bad happens. Usually nothing does — and something good finds the space.

Carry this with you

Subtract before you add.
